India – Food Safety and Standards Act (2006) and Food Safety and Standards (Food Recall Procedure) Regulations (2017)

Food safety regulation in India is governed by Section 28 of the Food Safety and Standards Act and enforced by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI).

In 2017, the Food Safety and Standards (Food Recall Procedure) Regulations introduces a food recall system that uses food traceability to identify and remove unsafe foods from all stages of a supply chain and disseminate information to relevant stakeholders.
